Description of Strategy
GAMCO Global Gold, Natural Resources & Income Trust is a non-diversified, closed-end management company. The Fund intends to generate income from short-term gains primarily through its strategy of writing covered call options on the equity securities in its portfolio. Because of its primary strategy the Fund forgoes the opportunity to participate fully in the appreciation of the underlying equity security above the exercise price of the option. Under normal market conditions, the Fund will invest 80% of its assets in equity securities of companies principally engaged in the gold and natural resource industries.
Investment Objective
The Fund’s investment objective is to provide a high level of current income. The Fund’s secondary investment objective is to seek capital appreciation.
Why Invest
Inflation Protection: Gold has long been viewed as a safe-haven asset during times of economic uncertainty or inflation. As inflation rises, the price of gold typically increases, and gold mining stocks tend to benefit from higher gold prices, offering a potential hedge against inflationary pressures.
Portfolio Diversification: Having historically displayed low correlation with equities and fixed income, exposure to gold mining stocks may deliver added diversification to a portfolio comprised of traditional asset classes.
Exposure to Global Markets: This fund provides access to a diverse range of opportunities both in and out of the United States.
