PFAS FAQ – Learn more @ the 3rd Annual Gabelli PFAS Symposium on 9/17 in NYC #pfas #learn #investing

Rebecca Stern, PhD (Research Analyst) answers some of the most frequently asked questions about PFAS:

-What is PFAS?
PFAS stands for per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances. They’re a group of manmade chemicals that have been used in industry and consumer products for decades. You can find them in things like nonstick pans, water repellent fabric, and firefighting foam.

-Why is PFAS important?
PFAS are sometimes referred to as forever chemicals. This means that they can stay in the environment and human body for a long time. Recent research has shown that these chemicals exert some health effects in the human body, causing things like cancer, potentially, or hormone disruption. A lot of efforts have been made to understand the impacts of PFAS on human health and the environment.

-What is being done to address PFAS in our environment and our bodies?
Many organizations are dedicated to removing PFAS from existing partitions in the environment and to finding alternatives and stopping the production of PFAS altogether.

-Where can I learn more?
You are invited to attend our 3rd Annual PFAS Symposium at the Harvard Club in New York City on September 17th.
