With the 97th Academy Awards this weekend, everyone is anticipating who will win Best Picture as well as Best Actor & Actress. However, we are also watching how the dynamics impact the larger media & entertainment industry playout for this event, including the continued rise of streaming over legacy pay-tv and traditional cable, as well as the emergence of ad-supported platforms or tiers and other forms of distribution.
Many of the Oscar-nominated films are available to stream on subscription video on demand (SVOD) platforms including Apple TV+, Disney+, Max, Hulu, Netflix, Paramount+ and Peacock, while others are available for purchase on services like Apple TV or Amazon Prime Video.
The Oscars will air on Disney’s ABC broadcast network and also stream live on Hulu for the first time. So, there are a number of ways to access the event – you can watch free over-the-air on your local ABC station, or if you’re a cable or satellite subscriber, ABC is included in your channel lineup. It can also be streamed on services like Hulu Live TV, AT&T TV, and FuboTV.
So, grab your popcorn this Sunday, and tune into your preferred platform, to watch one of Hollywood’s pinnacle events!
